I need YOUR advice! We are leaving next week to hop on a plane to Colorado with. two. babies. We have a quick layover in Atlanta, then will be on our way to Colorado Springs and in the air for several hours to follow. I've been brainstorming a bunch of things (this is what happens when you're stuck in a recliner for 3 weeks!) but I'm sure I'm forgetting something. Here's what our set up is: Drew will be in the sling with me and Kate will be on a lap. Jon's? Gretchen's? What are your tips for traveling with a 13 month old and a 7 week old?

Does it have to be ONE lap, or could she move? I would start her on daddy's when you're about to take off and then when she gets restless, let her move to aunt gretchen's. Bring lots of things to keep her occupied. :) Not that I have ever done this before, but that is my brainstorming of how this would work best. :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I feel certain that she'll be walking the aisles once we're allowed to be up. She will never sit still, so I imagine she'll sit on all 3 laps!!
ReplyDeleteWould it help to have Gretchen sitting in the seat behind Jon? On one of my flights, I played 'peekaboo' through the cracks in the seats with a little boy in front of me for over half the trip...
ReplyDeleteAlso, my mom used to give us Dramamine, which kept us from getting carsick and made us really sleepy. I can't remember how young we were when she started that, though.
Hope it goes well! Enjoy the wedding!!
We flew when Olivia was barely one and I went to the dollar store and bought new things that I put in a bag for our trip for her. A brush/mirror set, a new little baby doll and bottle, and ball attached to a string.... she was enthralled with the BRAND NEW "toys" and was perfect on our flight to Montana! I stocked up on lots of snacks too, and pulled out a new snack every 1/2 hour or so. Drew should be no problem! They're easy when they're small!
ReplyDeleteto go off what sheila said (i never tried this, but i've heard of it) is wrap up those new things (or you could even wrap up toys you have now) and every 20/30 minutes or so, let her open a "present." she's younger than lucas was when we fly across the ocean, but you'll be in the plane a much shorter time than we were!
